Contract notifications

Create alert rules for important contract events and send updates by email or Slack to the right people.

Use Contract Notifications to create rules that monitor contracts and alert you when specific conditions are met (for example, upcoming end dates or contracts matching certain fields).

Where to find it

Go to Settings and open Contract Notifications (or Manage Contract Notifications).

From this page, you can:

  • Create a new alert
  • Edit existing alerts
  • Enable/disable alerts
  • Delete alerts you no longer need

How to setup an alert

  1. Enter an Alert Name
In Alert Name, type a clear name (for example, End dates in next 60 days).

  2. Set Trigger conditions
Under Trigger when, build one or more conditions. For each condition, choose:

    • Field (what to evaluate)
    • Operator (how to compare)
    • Value (if required)

Click Add Condition to add more rows.

Available fields

  • Title
  • Summary
  • Execution Date
  • Start Date
  • End Date
  • Auto Renewal
  • Categories
  • Tags
  • Party Names
  • Contract Owner
  • Active custom fields

Date rule note

  • If you select in next for date fields, choose a day window (for example: 30, 60, 90 days).
  1. Choose Match conditions logic
In Match conditions, select how multiple conditions are evaluated:

    • ANY are true: trigger when at least one condition matches
    • ALL are true: trigger only when every condition matches
  2. Choose whether the alert is Recurring
Turn on Recurring if you want repeated reminders.
Then select an interval: Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.

  3. Select recipients
    Under Who receives notifications?, choose:

    • Me, or
    • Other people (enter one or more email addresses)
  4. Select notification Channel
    Under Channel, choose:

    • Email only
    • Slack only (if Slack is connected)
    • Email and Slack (if Slack is connected)

If using Slack for Other people, choose either:

    • Direct message to each recipient, or
    • A specific Slack channel
  5. Save the alert
Click Save Alert to create a new rule, or Update Alert when editing an existing one.

Typical use cases

  • Upcoming expirations: End Date in next 30/60/90 days
  • Team-specific alerts: Category equals MSA and End Date in next 90 days
  • Data quality checks: Contract Owner is empty (recurring reminder)

Best practices

  • Use descriptive alert names so rules are easy to manage
  • Use ALL are true to reduce noise
  • Add recurring reminders for deadlines that need follow-up
  • Review and disable alerts that are no longer needed
