How do I edit contract fields?
Edit extracted or custom fields on a contract. Update any editable field on the contract detail page, including extracted data and custom attributes defined by your admin.
You can update many contract fields directly from the Contract Views table or on the Contract Detail page, depending on your permissions and how the field is configured. Editing supports the field’s data type (text, number, date, etc.).
Where you can edit
- Contract Views table – Single-click a cell to edit it. Only columns that are editable show the edit control; the editor matches the field type (text, number, date, etc.).
- Contract Detail page – Open a contract, then use the Overview tab (including Quick Glance and other attributes), or category tabs such as Terms, Financial, and Legal. Single-click a value or use the edit control to change it; the editor respects the field’s data type.
- Custom fields – Custom attributes (e.g. in an “Other” or custom-fields section) are editable when your admin has enabled editing. Same single-click or edit control; type (text, number, date) is supported per field.
In both the table and Contract Detail, only fields you have permission to edit will show as editable.
How to edit
- Click the cell or value.
- Change the value. Depending on the field type you may see:
- Text – Type or paste.
- Date – Use a date picker.
- Dropdown – Choose from allowed values (e.g. contract type, status).
- Number – Enter a number (and optionally currency/unit).
- Save or Cancel your edit.
Edits are saved to the contract record. They do not change the original document (e.g. PDF); they update the data the app uses for search, reporting, and Chat. Some fields may be read-only or show "Access Restricted" if you lack permission.
