How do I delete or archive a contract?

Remove a contract or move it to archive. Delete a contract when it is no longer needed, or archive it to hide from active views while keeping the record.

Depending on your permissions, you can delete a contract from the system or archive it so it no longer appears in active views.

Deleting a contract

  1. Open the contract detail page.
  2. Click More actions (three dots) in the toolbar.
  3. Choose Delete (shown in red at the bottom of the dropdown, below a separator).
  4. Confirm in the dialog. Deletion is permanent: the contract and its extracted data are removed from the app.

You need the delete_contract permission. If you don't see Delete, you don't have permission. Deleting does not remove the original document from external systems (e.g. Google Drive); it only removes the contract from Contracts AI.

Archiving a contract

  1. Open the contract detail page.
  2. Click More actions (three dots) in the toolbar.
  3. Choose Archive.

You need the archive_contract permission. Archiving moves the contract to an archived state so it may no longer appear in default or active views but can still be retrieved for reference or audit. Archived contracts may be visible in a separate "Archived" view or filter; restoring (unarchiving) may be available from that view or from admin tools.

If you're unsure whether to delete or archive, check with your admin; many organizations prefer archiving for compliance and history.
