Custom attributes (custom fields) on a contract
View and edit admin-defined custom fields on contracts. Custom attributes support filtering, reporting, and better contract context in Chat.
In addition to standard extracted metadata, contracts can include Custom Fields defined by your admin (for example: Region, Owner, Risk tier, Renewal motion, etc.).
These fields help your team standardize how contracts are tagged, searched, segmented, and reviewed.
Where you see them
-
Quick glance
Some custom fields may appear in summary areas if your admin added them to those layouts. -
Contract Details (Others tab / custom attributes section)
This is where you can usually see the full set of custom attributes for that contract, including field name and current value. -
In your Contract Tables, if they are selected from Edit fields.
Editing custom fields
-
If you have edit access, use the field’s edit control (or inline edit interaction) to update the value.
-
Input behavior depends on field configuration:
- Text fields
- Dropdown/select fields (predefined options)
- Date fields
- Other admin-configured field types
-
Save your change to update that specific contract’s custom attribute values.
Visit Custom Fields Admin for detailed steps to add Custom Fields to your contracts.
How custom fields work at scale
When admins create or update custom fields, the platform may need to process existing contracts so those fields are available consistently across the dataset. Depending on volume, this can take time before all contracts reflect newly introduced fields or options.
Once available, custom field values can be used across workflows such as:
- Contract Views / filtering
- Reporting and analytics
- Chat context (to help produce contract-aware responses using your organization’s metadata)
If a field is missing or not editable, your admin may need to configure it.
