Chat sidebar and gold standard comparison
Ask contract-specific questions in the Chat sidebar and compare contract clauses against your organization’s Gold Standard to identify alignment, gaps, and risk.
From a contract detail page, you can use Chat and run a clause-by-clause comparison against your organization’s Gold Standard.
Chat sidebar
Use the Chat sidebar when you want quick answers grounded in the current contract.
- Open a contract detail page.
- Click Ask a Question in the toolbar to open the Chat sidebar. You need the Use Chat permission.
- Type a question (for example: “What is the notice period?” or “Is there an auto-renewal clause?”).
- Review the answer and ask follow-up questions in the same thread for deeper context.
The Chat sidebar uses the currently open contract as context, so responses are specific to that document.
Gold standard comparison
Use Gold Standard comparison to evaluate how closely a contract matches your organization’s preferred clause language and policy expectations.
- Click Compare with Gold Standard in the contract detail toolbar (code-compare icon). You need the Compare With Gold Standard permission.
- The system runs a clause comparison and opens the Chat sidebar with a Gold Standard Analysis tab.
- The analysis highlights where the contract appears to:
- Align with expected clause intent/language
- Partially align and may need review
- Differ from your Gold Standard and may introduce risk
You can use this output to prioritize legal review, decide whether to accept language, and identify clauses that may need negotiation.
You can also run Compare with Gold Standard from Contract Views by selecting a single contract and using the same toolbar action.
How the comparison is useful in practice
- It helps standardize review by comparing contracts against one shared benchmark.
- It speeds up issue spotting by surfacing potential deviations early.
- It gives reviewers a consistent way to discuss clause quality and fallback positions.
